Bonus Content

This is a section I’m planning on dedicating to some additional content that I’ve worked on over time related to the history of college football.

AFCA Blue Ribbon Commission – Who should get the Crystal Ball?

Inspired by me being a trophy nerd, I take a dive into the period that AFCA established the Blue Ribbon Commission to award retroactive Coaches Poll titles and see who has the best case to claim one.

If The CFP Existed In…?

I decided to take some of the relevant information I could find and examine some seasons with debated or controversial titles and how a 4-team CFP would’ve looked in those seasons.

The College Football Belt

While not a new concept, I plan on listing the teams that have held college football’s lineal championship, broken down into several distinct phases:

  • Princeton/Rutgers Belt: traced back to the first game of college football
  • Minnesota Belt: for the ones that feel the belt started when the AP Poll crowned its first national champion
  • Post-Merger: period following the 1942 merger of the 2 belts
  • Modern Era I: From the 1970s until the turn of the millennium
  • Modern Era II: From the turn of the millennium to today

In addition, I also plan to highlight an achievement I call “The Double” – teams who won/held the CFB Belt at the same time they clinched a national title from a NCAA-designated selector.
